Tyrol’s Sports & Vitality Park
... is also the Centre of Nordic Sports in Tyrol.
When someone needs recommendations related to cross-country skiing, most Tyroleans think of the Achensee region first. Locals are justifiably proud of this “regional treasure”, and point to the excellent opportunities for cross-country skiers and those who want to try out the sport for the first time.
Over 200 kilometres of backcountry trails provide nearly unlimited excitement between the majestic Alpine slopes of the Rofan and Karwendel ranges. The completely variedterrain – from gentle hills along the lake to the challenging routes into the Karwendel valleys or around Steinberg am Rofan – make this area one of the most varied and excited Nordic centres in Tyrol. Separate tracks for classic skiers and skaters, at all degrees of difficulty, are a given. In addition, a model routing system make navigation easy: Every kilometre is markedandhandy trail maps with detailed information and profiles can be obtained in the tourism office.
In addition, it is not a problem if father winter does not want to cooperate: Plenty of trails can be managed with snow making machines. And of course, the fact that the region is regularly awarded the Tyrolean Quality Seal for cross-country trails is understood.
Our Tip:
Trail: Falzthurn Gramai - Pertisau
Artificial snow is provided along the run from the start up to Falzthurn lodge and back - covering a distance of 7 kilometres.

Accessible Cross-Country Skiing for Everyone
The Falzthurn-Gramai run is also one of the no-barrier cross-country trails in the Achensee region. This is a trail for advanced and good-conditioned adaptive skiers, as well as ambitious skiers with a friend providing support. The stunning mountain landscape more than makes up for the effort required to reach these special places.
My favourite cross-country trail for years, where I was able to perfectly train my power, endurance and technique. Since you are sure to break a sweat getting to the high lodges, you should be sure to bring a jacket along to avoid chills on the way down.
Cross-Country Trail Fees
A cross-country trail use fee is only required in Pertisau for skiers heading to the Karwendel valleys.
If you are staying in our Achensee holiday region as a guest, use of the cross-country trails is free with the “Guest card” and the"Regiobus pass".All cross-country skiers without a valid "Guest card" and a "Regiobus pass" are required to pay a use fee.
