Even Emperor Maximilian loved to visit Pertisau on Lake Achensee. Following his example, aristocrats and artists also succumbed to the magic of the alpine atmosphere. Now, you too can enjoy an imperial holiday here. Tyrol's largest lake is up to 133 metres deep and has excellent (drinking) water quality with up to ten metres visibility under water.
Lake Achensee offers plenty of room for all water activities, be it excursion ships from Achenseeschiffahrt boat company, the pedal boats and rowing boats, divers and anglers, or the many swimmers. During the summer, the mountain lake is not only a popular destination for day-trippers, but also a popular destination for tourists on a beach holiday.
For many years, Lake Achensee has been recognised as a perfect resort for sailing and surfing. Nine kilometres in length, it offers water sports enthusiasts both fantastic water and wind conditions. Sailing, surfing, kitesurfing or stand up paddling are on offer here, so there is something for everyone and lots of opportunity to hone techniques.
A paragliding flight is a great way to enjoy the fantastic panorama from the air. A tandem flight makes the adventure an experience everyone can enjoy. Lake Achensee offers two golf courses for passionate golfers: an 18-hole course at the foot of the Karwendel and a 9-hole course in Achenkirch. For beginners and ambitious hobby sports enthusiasts, the 183-kilometre marked course is a veritable running paradise.
In winter, the 200 kilometres of cross-country trails offer unlimited sporting fun. The different types of terrain transform the area into a highly varied Nordic centre. Achensee is a winter paradise for all those who prefer to experience the magic of winter on foot, and the best way is to put on snowshoes and go on a winter hike.
