Probably the most beautiful climbing area in Tyrol: The area around Lake Achen

Crystal clear, deep blue water with small boats with glaring white sails and surfers that brighten up the image as a "colourful spot": For many, that's the iconic Achensee image! And all seen from a bird's eye view, of course. Add to that the mountains, forming the perfect frame for this unique lake: The "local mountains", the Rofan mountains, high above Lake Achen and the Karwendel mountains, have evolved over the past years to become probably one of the best climbing areas in Tyrol.

With approx. 250 sport climbing routes, numerous alpine classics and a high forest rope course in Achenkirch, the Achensee region sets the highest standards in terms of climbing sport.

The up-to-date "Kletterfolder" climbing folder provides you with first-hand information and is available at the reception or can be downloaded. The handy brochures contain information on both mountain ranges, the individual routes, and the climbing gardens, as well as important safety tips.

In addition, the region’s climbing opportunities can be found at www.climbers-paradise.com. Of course, the best tips can be obtained from locals in-the-know: Something especially important in a location where there are new climbing possibilities practically every season. Where will you encounter them? Of course, on the rock faces, along the way or while having a leisurely break…

Lamsenspitze climbing area and Dreamland climbing garden

There is an alpine climbing area with up to 400-metre walls around the Lamsenjoch. Here you will find classic alpine routes and modern alpine sport climbing routes next to one another. Famous climber Hermann Buhl even left his mark here. Fantastic rock faces combined with the magic of the Alps promise excitement for every climber.

The dominant rock summit of the area drops northwards and to the east, with up to 400 metres of high walls. The routes along the right portion of the east wall include, at least in the lower portion, fantastic rock, and then end after several pitches at the very popular and frequented northeast face.
